Data compiled by Euro Club Index reveals Los Blancos have been leapfrogged by fierce rivals despite winning another Champions League

BARCELONA have beaten Real Madrid to be crowned the biggest club in Europe.

According to the Euro Club Index, the Spanish champions have overtaken their rivals in the rankings despite Real winning a third consecutive Champions League title at the weekend.

Real Madrid have lost their crown as Europe's biggest club to Barcelona

The list is put together by sports data company Gracenote and uses various factors to determine positions, such as performances away from home and in domestic cup competitions.

Real were ranked No 1 this time last year but trade places with Barcelona, who were previously second.

Bayern Munich remain in third, while Juventus have climbed from fifth to fourth.

Manchester City make up the top five after rising three places, with Tottenham the next best-ranked English side in ninth – four positions better than last season.
