The Liverpool star’s World Cup campaign is now in jeopardy, although Egypt officials expect him to recover just in time for the opening game against Uruguay on June 15.
Ramos has been on the end of a significant social media backlash since the incident, with many believing that he injured Salah intentionally.
One petition to get him retrospectively banned for the challenge has now passed half a million signatures.
The reported abuse hurled on Ramos has gone beyond social media – after it was claimed that a group of fans found his phone number.
According to COPE Network, both Ramos and his family have been receiving threats, meaning they have all had to change their numbers.
The report claims that Ramos has been rang by anonymous callers and has received death threats.
In the meantime, Egypt’s national team have claimed that Salah is on course to be fit in time for the World Cup.
“The delegation of the national team was briefed on the recovery programme for the player, who is walking well.
“He aims to join the squad in the World Cup and this great player is determined to catch up with his team-mates.
“For his part, Mohamed Abou El-Ela said that the period of absence of Salah due to injury will not exceed three weeks,” a post on its Facebook page reads.
